★ MARKDOWN!
Good to know: Markdown is rendered to HTML then rasterized into images before placing them in a PDF (via html2canvas). The output PDF is image-based — text will not be selectable or searchable.

ABOUT MARKDOWN TO PDF.

Markdown has become the default lightweight format for README files, technical notes, and documentation precisely because its syntax (# for headings, **bold**, - for lists, and so on) is both human-readable as-is and easy to convert into properly formatted output. minipdftoosz's Markdown to PDF tool runs your .md file through markdown-it — a widely used, standards-compliant Markdown parser — to produce styled HTML, then rasterizes that HTML with html2canvas and places it onto PDF pages via pdf-lib, the same rendering pipeline HTML to PDF uses under the hood.

Headings render at appropriately larger sizes, bold and italic text render with the correct emphasis, ordered and unordered lists render with proper indentation and markers, and code blocks render in a monospaced font — markdown-it correctly interprets standard Markdown syntax into properly structured, styled HTML before anything gets rasterized into the final PDF, so the formatting you wrote in Markdown actually shows up formatted in the output.

As with HTML to PDF, the resulting PDF is image-based rather than text-based: the final rasterization step captures a visual snapshot, so text in the output PDF is not selectable or searchable, even though your original Markdown source obviously is. This is the right tool when you want a nicely-formatted, shareable, printable PDF version of Markdown notes or documentation, but not the right tool if the recipient needs to search or copy text from the PDF itself — for that, keep sharing the source Markdown or a .txt export alongside it.

A typical use: converting a project's README.md into a polished PDF for a client or stakeholder who won't be browsing a code repository, or turning personal Markdown notes into something printable for offline reading. Standard Markdown syntax (headings, emphasis, lists, code fences, blockquotes, links) is supported; highly unusual or extended Markdown dialects specific to a particular platform may not render identically to how that platform displays them.

If you write in Markdown regularly, it's often worth keeping the .md source file as your primary, editable copy and generating a fresh PDF export only when you actually need to hand a polished, non-editable version to someone else — that way you're never stuck editing a PDF when the real source of truth is the much easier structured Markdown text.

Developers and technical writers converting a README or documentation file into something presentable for a non-technical audience are the most common users of Markdown to PDF, valuing the tool for turning familiar Markdown syntax into a properly formatted, shareable document without needing separate design software.

★ QUICK TIPS
  • Standard Markdown syntax (headings, bold/italic, lists, code blocks, links) renders correctly — platform-specific extended syntax may not.
  • Like HTML to PDF, output text is not selectable — this is a formatted visual snapshot, not a searchable document.
  • Great for turning a README or notes file into something presentable to someone who won't be reading raw Markdown.
