ABOUT ROTATE PDF.

Sideways and upside-down pages are one of the most common scanning artifacts: feed a stack of paper through an automatic document feeder and it's common for a handful of pages to land rotated 90 or 180 degrees relative to the rest, especially with landscape-oriented pages like spreadsheets or wide tables mixed into an otherwise portrait document. minipdftoosz's Rotate tool fixes this by adjusting the PDF page's internal rotation attribute — a metadata flag every PDF page already carries — rather than re-rendering pixels, so the fix is instant and lossless.

You can rotate every page in the document by the same amount (useful when an entire scan came in sideways), or target specific pages individually when only a few are affected. The tool offers 90°, 180°, and 270° rotation in either direction, covering every orientation a scanner or camera capture might produce.

Because rotation is a metadata change and not a re-render, there's no image quality loss whatsoever — a rotated page looks exactly as sharp as the original, just reoriented, and file size barely changes. This is different from how some image editors handle rotation, where non-multiples-of-90 rotation requires actually resampling pixels; PDF page rotation in 90° steps needs none of that.

A frequent scenario: a multi-page contract scanned mostly correctly except for one exhibit page that was fed into the scanner sideways. Rather than rescan the entire document, open it here, rotate just that one page 90°, and download — the rest of the document is untouched, and no other tool intervention is required.

Rotation is also useful preventively: if you're about to run a page-numbering or watermarking pass on a scan with mixed orientations, fixing rotation first ensures the stamp or watermark you add afterward lands right-side-up on every page, rather than sideways on the pages that were rotated to begin with. Fixing orientation early in a multi-step workflow avoids compounding a small scanning glitch into a bigger cleanup job later.

People scanning paperwork with basic flatbed or feed scanners hit rotation issues constantly, especially with any document that mixes portrait and landscape pages — spreadsheets, wide tables, certificates. This tool is the fast fix for that specific, extremely common annoyance, without needing to understand why the scanner got it wrong in the first place, just correcting the result quickly before moving on.

Because the fix takes only seconds per page, there's rarely a good reason to leave a sideways page uncorrected in anything meant to be shared — a rotated page in an otherwise-correct document reads as careless, even when the actual content is fine. A quick pass through this tool before sending closes that gap without needing to touch anything else about the file.

★ QUICK TIPS
  • If pages look rotated in one viewer but fine in another, that's a viewer bug reading the rotation flag — this tool writes the standard flag every reader should respect.
  • Rotating a page doesn't change its width/height in the page-size sense; a portrait page rotated 90° still reports as portrait dimensions with content drawn sideways within them.
  • Combine with Crop Pages afterward if a rotated scan also has excess margin on what's now a different edge.
